Post Bylaws Template

"Thank you" to those Post Leaders who reviewed the Post Bylaws draft template and contributed their comments. The SAME Board of Direction officially adopted the new template for rollout to the Posts during its meeting in May. Posts will now need to adopt new bylaws using this template found in the Post Operations section of the SAME Web site. Members will need their IDs to access the template.

The Post Bylaws should cover all governance issues for the Post to ensure continuity from one year to the next. The Web site provides information on the revision process and a summary of changes in the new template. The deadline for submission of the new Post Bylaws to SAME HQ is May 31, 2005. The receipt of these new Post Bylaws will be included in the criteria for Distinguished Post and Distinguished Region for the 2005 Streamer Awards.

  • Added an article on governance, which brings the Post under the National Constitution and Bylaws

Remember summer camp, when the new kids were paired up with the veteran campers who showed them the ropes? New members can be a little skittish, or even shy about attending their first event. Ask for volunteers within your Post to orient new members at meetings, or other social events and serve as a tour guide. Many great friendships have been made this way.
