AMS Update
SAME launched the Sustaining Membership portion of the Association Management System (AMS) in September. However, the online update section is still under construction. Once that portion is complete, Sustaining Members (SM) will be able to update their contact information online, just as Individual Members do.
During this transition period, SMs are required to submit revisions to their invoice by physically “marking up” the printed document. This mark-up will be used to help SAME transition data from the old membership system to the new one. This process will be used until all SMs have renewed under the new membership system and dues structure. The new Sustaining Membership application is available on the Web at www.same.org/join.
The new Sustaining Membership dues structure was implemented with the August renewals. If you have no changes to the invoice you received, you can remit your payment online via the SAME Web site.
Should you have any questions regarding your Sustaining Membership, please contact SM Specialist Jackie Porter at jporter@same.org, 703-549-3800, ext. 121. Companies that wish to consolidate their billings for Sustaining Membership should contact Database Manager Natasha Rocheleau at nroch@same.org,
703-549-3800, ext. 124.
Again, thanks for your patience during this
transition.

SAME Design-Build Workshop, Honolulu, Hawaii

Plan to Attend SAME’s Transition Workshop and Job Fair
SAME has expanded its Transition Workshop and Job Fair to two locations in 2008: Jan. 4-5, in Atlanta, Ga., and Jan. 17-18, in San Diego, Calif. This provides job seekers the best opportunity to connect with SAME Sustaining Members and DOD agencies.
Job Seekers. The 2008 Transition Workshop and Job Fair is intended primarily for members of the uniformed services who plan to leave military or public service in 2008. Registration for SAME members is FREE; the registration fee for non-members is $100.
This unique, two-day forum will feature panel discussions with members of the uniformed services and civilians who have recently transitioned out of government service into the private sector. Additionally, representatives from environmental, engineering, construction and facility management organizations will be on hand to describe the types of positions available in the A/E/C and facility management industries.
Workshops on resume writing and interviewing techniques, as well as private sector position descriptions will be presented for individuals looking for some helpful tips.
At the Job Fair, registrants will be able to meet with SAME SM Company and Public Agency Representatives in private suites.
Sustaining Member Companies. SAME is able to offer this workshop—free to SAME members—through sponsorships by our SM companies. Numerous sponsorship opportunities exist, including:
- Platinum $3,500
- Gold $2,500
- Silver—Large Business $1,250-$1,500
- Silver—Small Business $1,000-$1,249
Each sponsorship includes a private interview suite, attendance by one corporate representative, a
company sign outside the suite, company name posted on the SAME Web site, access to job seekers’ resumes prior to the event and listing of a brief company profile in the workshop program. Additional benefits such as advertising and a company profile in the on-site program are available to Gold and Platinum sponsors.
